Farmall M fuel line

I am looking for the in side diameter of the fuel line. My M seems like it runs the bowl empty. Some one made the one that"s on it now. Also why is there a loop in the factory fuel lines

If the bowl is running dry, the problem is higher up not downstream to the carb. Like maybe the outlet is plugged with debris?

The coil is in the line to combat vibration.

Every thing was new in the spring Befor I bought it. I flushed the tank and cleaned every thing. Im getting a good flow out of the line in a can. The tractor seems to lose power when I was pulling last fall. I have done a tune up, this is just the last thing in my list.

An M uses a lot if fuel but not THAT much. If you have a good stream you should be fine as far as supply. Did you try pulling the choke a bit and see if it helped? If it helps then you have a fuel problem. Depending on the job I have had to adjust the main screw on mine as it fell short under heavy load. Did you try that?

When I start my M with the fuel shut off I can get across the barnyard before it dies. It isn't slurping it up faster than it will drain through your line unless there is something else up. Is there a vacuum? Is your cap venting properly?

I have adjusted everything. The governor was out also. I finally was able to get that back in spec. I did buy a new fuel tank cap I was just thinking about that may not be venting. Maybe I will try to get a new rubber gasket for it. The one on it dryed out.

You mentioned pulling. Is this something you can get to repeat or are you working from memory? Does it do it any other time? I've never had an issue like this, but it is possible that there is a float issue. It is possible that the float is rubbing on the side of the bowl and not opening enough.

Another theory I have actually had happen:

How much fuel did you have in it? When I grind feed I have to make sure the tank is at least half full. Something about the vibration at that certain RPM or the harmonics with the mixer grinder makes the fuel really hop in the tank. Think heavy rain on a pond. I was grinding and started to lose power. I looked in the sediment bowl and saw air. I opened the fuel cap and fuel was flying around in there and coming out of the filler neck. It was bubbling (for lack of a better word) so much that the standpipe was drawing air. I've seen the same thing when a law mower is running and you take off the gas cap. The fuel is dancing.

I bought the OEM premade steel line for my SMTA and it can not be beat. I had to trim both ends just a hair, but I would guess they do that on purpose. Don't forget to cut the ends REALLY square and dress them up because they are a sealing surface.
