I have read that on the super A1 that the Hyd. system was one of the improvements or changes on the tractor, does anyone know what it was that was changed? Thanks Mike

Upgrade from what. The A1 was an industral type with foot throttle and the heavy front but the heavy front could come be on the SA also be careful what you read as theres tons of sayings from those who dont realy know.

gene, I think he is talking about the 1954-only Super A-1 (eh-one), not the AI (eh-eye).

As far as "improvements" to the hydraulic system, that's news to me. I suspect that any improvements were small and subtle. The main improvement on the Super A-1 were in the engine and cooling system AFAIK.

Yes I was referring to the 1954 Super A-1 mkirsch, I agree I don't see anything different by looking at one, just was wondering what I was missing, but I had read in one of my Farmall books that they had made improvements to the Hyd. system, gene maybe right on the don't believe everything you read lol, I get time I'll go back and see if I can find it. Thanks

Some changes were made to some hydraulic block parts in 1954. Common for IH to make changes or improvement parts for tractors made over several years. Not the first change to the units.

Well looked in the parts book and looks like at serial # 354576 [ in 1954 ] they made a changes in the touch control cylinder block and some of the valves, bushings and other small parts, no big change, I'm guessing that was the change I read about.
