Hitachi Alt. Farmall SM Belt?

Does anyone know what size belt I need to fit my new Hitachi alternator?

The original belt looks to be maybe 1 to 2 inches short. I ran out of time to get it off tonight.

The answer is going to depend on how the mounting bracket is made and what size pulley is on the alternator. The best option is for you just to measure the length yourself. Belts are measured but outside diameter so you can just use a 1/2 tape measure around both pulleys and read how long it must be.

There is no way to know what and how you mounted your alt for belt length you say 1-2 in short so get one 1-2in longer does your pulley need a 1/2 or wider belt i dont have a problem getting maybe two belts and return the ones i dont need its up to you.

I have taken an old belt and cut it to
'length'.Tape the ends together to make a complete
belt.Take that to the store to match up.

I installed the Hitachi alternator on my Super H. The existing belt was the correct length already.
