will O-rings work in place of the Teflon ones or whatever they are that are used to seal the cylinder to lift cover and control valves to cylinder, hyd specialist said o-rings were better than the original,i'd like a second opinion

Let's think this through a little, then you decide.

I've worked in IH and CIH dealerships since 1975. In that time, I have never had a teflon sealing ring fail in those positions.

Chances are that regular o-rings, properly sized and of the correct grade for the application, would probably work there.

But, would you want to do that job over just because the o-rings you chose to use didn't hold up?

Your tractor, your time, your choice.

When we have trouble blowing O-rings we go to Teflon rings. The Teflon rings were used for good reasons. Can't reuse them with much success though as they crush into shape so once parts are put together and for any reason taken back apart they need to be replaced whereas a new o-ring will retain it's durability if just put together and taken back apart for some reason it could be reused.

Don't want to get in the middle of this, but that's never stopped me before....
There's Teflon and there's Teflon and then there's Teflon. By itself, pure Teflon under pressure will cold-flow if it is not restrained; it will squeeze out, and move and release whatever pressure it is trying to go against. But there's also filled Teflon, with fibers and strands of various materials, to resist cold-flow. Some work better than others. So like everything else, it depends.
