Tractor wont stay running after I release starter button. I have already checked switch, replaced starter button.I was told it may a bad resistor. Where is this resistor located? I don't see it anywhere near the coil or in the harness leaving coil. this tractor has the alternator also, not a generator. already by passed clutch saftey switch also. Ran new wire from solenoid to key switch also still no luck .

I think this model may have a resistor built into the power wire for the coil. You can hot wire the coil, if it keeps running it is certainly a resistor problem.

I believe it is a resistor in the wire type. A plain wire (12gauge) run from the Key to the coil area, then to a 65 chevy six cylinder ballast resistor then to the coil, will fix it.
There is another wire going to the coil from the Starter solenoid. It is the bypass that is currently letting it start until the key is released. Jim
