tire Chain measurements

if you have a trucker buddy see if he has a set of truck chains unsuitable for road use that he would sell cheap. one size frequently used on trucks is 11-24.5, you can always add or shorten side chains as needed also add an extra cross bar if needed. hope this gives you some ideas leroy

One way is to decide how far down the sidewall you want the side
chains to be, say 3" or 6". Then measure the distance from that
point on one side of the tire to that point on the other side. This
gives you the length of the cross chain. Then measure from the top
of the tire to the bottom of the tire and take off however much you
decided from each end of that measurement. Multiply by 3.14 and
that is the minimum length of the side chain.

Those are both longer and wider than you need but if the price is
right I would go for it, you can always cut off the extra and save it
for when you might need them for a bigger tire.

The wheel is 24 inches in diameter. Add 4 inches, because the chains do not need to wrap around the tire all the way to the rim. The circumference of a 28 inch circle is 88 inches.

I am thinking this size might work? There off a truck tire brand new.
the bag says Tire: 11R24.5 size: 285/75R 24.5

what do you think? I can get them for a great price.
