806 hydaulic oil leak

Got done pushing snow this am, could see hydraulic oil coming from the center plug at the rear of the l side aux hydraulic control valve. I called Case IH dealer, they had the center cap. Looking at it, it looks to be just a dirt cap & not meant to seal oil. Looking at parts breakdown, looks like there are three balls of two sizes in there and an oring around the piston that might be the culprit of the leak. Can this be mechanism be safely pulled apart on the tractor or does the assembly need to come off onto the bench? Thanks!

Best to just pull it off. The seat comes off then there is the side plate under the left side of the seat. That will let you get to the 3 bolts that hold the valves .There are o-rings between the valves plus the ones on the spool. the one for the detent is part of the detent pin. The three balls can be adjusted by the screw in the end of the spool for the stiffness of the detent. We have taken them all out on ours. The job will take half a day to do.

Your unlatching valve is the problem . Unhook the linkage on the ft. and unscrew the whole pipe thing . Now If the end cap comes off with out the pipe ya gots a small problem Clean every thing up and blue loctite it and let it set up for a day and try again . Once out you take the valve apart and do not loose the little latching balls while doing this . Remove the tiny little pin like valve out of the center and replace said valve with new. Yea i know can i replace the tiny little o/Ring , now i am not sayen ya can't but i have never had any luck doing so so i just replace the valve . Keep every thing clean use no rags to wipe stuff off , use clean diesel fuel Kero. parts cleaning solvent gas i do not care what just as along as it is clean and use compressed air to blow dry . Clean up the valve housing and surrounding areas replace the o/ring in the vav
valve body and lube everything up before assembly . Once everything is back together some trial and error to get the latching valve adjusted a pressure gauge would help with this . An I T manual would also be a plus .

Pull the spool out like Vet says. I don't follow the book's way of taking that spool apart. Developed my own method over time. Pretty hard to tell you on here but anyone who has had them apart can fix it for you in just a few minutes when you hand him the spool.

I printed this off and will tear into it if it ever quits snowing around here. The old girl is our main snow mover and does a good job of moving it. Its a gasser and hydraulics bawl loudly at -15*, but she always starts and never has been plugged in. Thanks for the responses!
