Farmall A fan hub

No 90 weight!! Use 30 weight engine oil and 3 or 4 drops once year or maybe twice a year if you use it a lot.

I think the book calls for 10w, non detergent. take out plug, turn hub so at about 10:00 or 2:00, fill with oil, turn to 6:00, let excess drain out, put plug back in. I usually don't let it drain, just put plug back in.

Use the same oil you use in the engine. D7 has it right as to how to fill the hub. There is a stand pipe inside the hub that drains the oil to correct level when you turn the fill/drain hole to the bottom. I would not use grease. This hub is designed so that rotation causes the oil to circulate through the bearing. You won't get that if you use grease. Pretty good design as many still going after 70 years!

Like other posts say how to fill no doubt great design how they still work after 70 yrs unless its shot from lack of oil you will find out if it leaks back towards the rear where its fastened to the bracket.

Thanks for this post, I was wondering about the oil, and ALSO, is there a seal/gasket that goes between the plate on the back of fan and the hub. I am about to take the fan off, and don't see a seal listed in the parts book.

Need to get back on track with this project, but the colder weather and other jobs intervened.
