Farmall 656 Frame Rails

I am looking for a set of frame rails that bolt to the outside of the bell housing instead of at the front of the bell housing through the motor plate. What year tractors had these and were they diesel, gas, LP, Hydro? Are there any other model tractors that would have the exact same length rails but bolt to the outside of the bell housing so that my sheetmetal would fit exactly the same? I have a 1968 gas tractor that I am considering repowering with a 4B Cummins. Thanks for all your replies!

You'll probably need to cut and weld frame rails to put in a wider engine. The design with frame rails at the front of the bell housing goes back to the letter series tractors and through at least the 1206. F-20's had frame rails outside the bell housing but they went back to the axles.

The 656 is the only tractor of that series that has the frame mounted like the earlier Farmalls. The 66 and 86 series used the frame type that fastened to the sides of the center section.

GR,

504 frame rails are 46 1/4 long and bolt to the outside of the bellhousing. Not as long as a 656.

666 frame rails bolt to the outside also. 55 3/4 long. The 666 is about 2 inches longer than a 656.

Does that mean that 966 or 1066 rails would bolt up to the bellhousing the same, only they would be longer?
