385 clutch question

I see on my IH 385 there is a provision for a clutch pedal return spring, but no spring i.e notch at top of clutch pedal and a place forward of it to attach spring.
There is another spring that seems to hold pressure on throwout bearing.
I was looking at a 585 this week and it had the spring up top, is there any reason not to put the top spring on mine to keep off the fingers??????

The clutch release changed during the "85 series production. Some tractors have a constant running release bearing that clips on to the clutch release fingers, these tractors do not have a return spring, but the place was still there to mount one.
