H steel wheel questions?

I acquired a full set of H steel wheels a few years back. How rare are the front steel wheels, & what would they be worth? The set I have is the only set I've ever seen in person. Have only seen 2 photo's of H front steel. One on the net, and one in a magazine. Any knowledge on how many were produced? I doubt very many exist today. Have seen 2 or 3 sets that were cut down. My rear wheels are skeleton, but dont think they are near as rare as the fronts. Wasn't some models produced with rubber fronts and steel rears? Any knowledge appriciated. Thanks

Red, There were alot of steel wheels for H&M's
But you are right most got cut down for rubber rims and welded. You can't put them back to steel real easy! So they are getting harder and harder find. So guy just don't want them they would rather have rubber. I have been watching a guy trying to sell and H with full set of steel for a long time now. On rubber it would have been gone already. oldiron29

Whats your buddy asking for the H? Restored or not? What's he think his steel wheels alone are worth? I know an M has bigger back axels, but will H front wheels fit on an M, thus being the same wheel? I think they might, but have never tried it. Rubber wheels look the same but not sure if an M has a heavier (bigger) hub. I still use my rubber tired H, but I think we are entering an era where H's are being used less and less and becoming more and more of an antique/collector item.

On ebay I have seen good sets of front steel bring over $800 . The fronts are harder to find then the rears. Most rears bring 300-500. I paid 450 for my set of h steel but the fronts needed new skid rings. I paid 1000 for my m steel the rears were skeleton wheels. The fronts are the same for h and m with the exception of the bearing races being different. M fronts bring big money sometimes well over a grand depending on how bad someone wants them and what part of the country you are in. Steel wheel tractors come in phases at times there hot items other times hard to sell. Personally I love the look of steel, something different at shows. Im currently working on a 41md on full steel and a 45 wartime h on full steel. In my opinion you would be better to sell the wheels as a set rather then seperating. I would think 800 to 1000 would be a fair price if wheels, lugs and rings are all in good shape. Jim.
