still running points and condenser ignition. can I use modern automotive styl plug wires or would copper be better.tractor is a super c just to plow snow and grase driveway. its converted to 12volt.
 
tractor was my dads,i know the wires have been on it for a least 45 years.wires were painted over the years,and I just want to freshen it up.

You want to use plain old copper wires. The new fangled carbon ones don't work well.

If you have a tractor supply nearby you can get a "custom" set to fit 4-cylinder farmalls for about $30.
 
I agree with using copper spark plug wires. I was working on a Ford NAA that had the resistive type wires. I could get the spark to jump .180 inches on a variable spark checker but it was an orange color. I changed one lead to a copper wire then rechecked the spark. Much to my surprise, the spark was a beautiful blue white color just what I was looking for. Changing the wire to copper from the resistive type was the only change that was made.
 
you have to stay with the wire core wires as the modern carbon core wires require a higher voltage such as in electronic ignitions.
