would you be able to use small point fast hitch implements from a super c on a farmall 300 which has big points? would it not work right? and do you have to do any modification on the small points?

You need a 1/2" tall shim on the bottom of the points, then it should work fine. This is what I have been told. I have a 300 but have not bought any small point equipment for it yet.

Yes you need the SHIM PLATE , it was a strip of steel bar stock that slid in the hitch receiver before you backed into the implement . each shim plate had a roll pin thru it's side to hold it from going in the receiver to far . as for the measurements of that part off hand i don't have it . They were listed in the parts books way back , i had a set of them at one time . I bought a fast hitch baled off and I H dealer way back when i had my 450 and the salesman told me that the blade came off a small fast hitch and i needed the shim plates and i got them at that time . Back them i did not know any better and i placed them in the hitch and went to hook up to the blade . My buddy and i were doing this and the balde only went in a little ways and we just figured that because it was rusty that is why it would not go all the way . Well being DUMB and STUPID we took the tractor over to a big tree and proceeded to BEAT the blade into the hitch . After several hard tries we now figured that something was wrong . Maybe we did not NEED those shims . Well we did a fine job of beating the blade in as with everything we tried to get it back out failed . Well never leave myself and a buddy as crazy as i am alone together as what we came up with fell under the heading of HEY YA'LL HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH this . So we go fetch the LONG chain and i mean LONG like thirty feet long . He gets his 450 and we chain the blade to his tractor and we start pulling against each other , Still the blade will not come out . Ok so lets back up to each other and take off and hit the end of the chain . After several tries in first , second and third and fourth gears only thing left to do was ROAD gear . Yep the blade did come out and it went flying out and up , up as far as the chain let it go . A 450 Farmall will only go so fast and somehow Mikey was able to stay just ahead of the blade till gravity took over and i came back down to earth . We never thought that and 8 foot Freeman blade could fly , So make sure you NEED the shims FIRST .

I have Super C's and a 300. The small point implements seem to be easier to find than the big. I use "easier" loosely as none are all that common any more. Most of the small FH implements work perfect with shims on my 300. It's over kill and the 300 is pretty clumsy compared to the SC. The only implement that won't work well is my 2-14" C20 FH plow. Not easy to get the wheels narrow enough

Pictured is an 8' spring tooth harrow on my 300. I had to road hog about 2 miles to work a buddies garden and the road gear in the 300 was nice.

farmall4856; yup, modification to the small points = nope.

The plate is made from 1/2" steel and measures 13 3/8" long; 1 1/8" wide. The cross of the 'T' is 3/4" long X 2" wide. Two 1/4" diameter holes are drilled through the steel. Centered 2 1/4" from the end (width-wise with awl extending through in photo) is on the edge and the second hole is centered 10 1/2" from the same end, on the face. Hope this will help.

farmall4856; that is the $25,000 ?
I can suggest Bates in Indiana, ebay, ASAP Ag Parts has multiple sites listed on their website to name a few. Possibly some kind folk on this board would have and part w/set; or have a machine shop make you a set. I was fortunate to have found a set beneath the seat assembly on one of my Farmall 340's.

"farmall4856; my parts book states fast-hitch filler plates but I have also called them spacers and others call them shims. If ya gots ta call around, here is a link that might be of help

It is an old salvage yard list, but I've used it. Good luck with your search.

(quoted from post at 15:33:22 01/23/14) yes it does help but where can I find a pair at? does case ih still sell them.

Find a pair? Make a pair!

All you really need is a piece of 1/2"x1" flat bar stock, cut two pieces 13-3/8" long, and shove them in the sockets before you attach the small-prong implement.
