1066 transmission issues

The transmission on my 1066 is stuck in low range but can be shifted through all four speeds. The range lever, is on the right side of the H pattern rather than on the left as it should be. When I move it into the lower or reverse position, though it doesn't slide completely down into the full reverse position, the engine dies when the clutch is released.

The parking brake is in the up position but will not move down at all.

Just wondering iy thoughts on what might be wrong. My hay trucker took the tractor to move a few bales and managed to make a mess of the transmission.
 
Take the panel, under the steering, center at the floorboard out. It's held on by two bolts at it's top.

With the aid of a good light, you can see the shift linkage down on the top of the transmission thru here if you stand on your head & hold your tongue just right. :>)

Either one of the little clevis pins has jumped out of the linkage OR the roll pin has sheared on that hi-low vertical shift shaft.

Since the tractor is stuck in hi range, it is 'probably' the roll pin. If ya remove the right battery it makes it a bit easier to replace.

Now, the problem could still be up on top at the little tie-rods behind that shift quadrant housing, but "usually" it is down below.

If the tractor has the factory cab, the difficulity level jumps by a factor of 10.... :>)

Easier yet look at the slots up by the levers where the numbers are for the gear locations. If the slots the levers don't line up somebody has got it out of place there . It's a common thing if the linkage is worn loose. If that is not the problem then as Allan has explained. It is the roll pin at the bottom of the shaft. I suspect the linkage since you labor the engine when you try to move as it is in 2 gears at once. If you keep trying you will change some gears inside after you break them
