hey Fellas, Ive ran across a NOS Farmall H Block Sitting in a Mans Machine shed. Its got a casting Date of "9-13-N" on it and he would like to get $75 out of it. its just the bare block but it does have the main bearing caps, but nothing else. its doesn't even have a serial number.the place where it goes is just blank. it would be nice to know what year it was cast and or if it has any other significant value. thanks.

it better have the main brg. caps as this is part of the block. without them the block is junk.
but you would have to line bore it if different caps were found.

N could be 1944 or 1968.

Not sure if they were still casting replacement blocks in 1968, though.

What is the part number on the block?

Like mkirsch said look for the casting number and any letters after the number on the right rear side area of the block. That can be used to tell if cast in 1944 or later. When N was used over it was for 1967.
H replacement blocks didn't have a serial number.

IH had a fire sale on blocks for H & M's in the 70's. We sold a few. My brother put one in his M which I now own. I believe they were closing the foundry where they were made, heard it was in France, don't know.
I think they were about $250 then and they had been twice that much before that. Heads also as he put both on.
