dt414 to 466 swap / 856 power steering

I have a 1066 with a bad dt414 and considering a dt466 swap. Will a dt466 out of a school bus be compatable or need any special modifications??

Also, I have a 856 that the power steering works effortlessly at idle, but as rpm increases it gets to where it is almost impossible to turn the steering wheel. Any clues on this would be helpful..

Your gonna need to switch over a lot of pieces from the 414 to the 466 like the front cover and rear plate along with a bunch of other stuff. You'll need a different pump too as the governor is different. Someone else will be able to give you a more precise list but in the end, the blocks are very interchangeable.

Just one thing- don't weight it down heavy for traction. Things go BOOM! if you get enough.

I did a similar switch, just on a smaller scale. The engine went bad in my 766 and I put in a DT414 out of a combine. I still pull the same stuff I always used it for, it just does it easier. It made it a lot better tractor.
