sediment bowl

That's what I was thinking. Do you think it could be drilled to accept this for a tank strainer?

What size is that tank strainer, all of the strainers I've used were already 1/4" but I'd say you could drill it out a little.

I"m thinking what seems to be a good idea might actually be a mistake... how are you going to clean it if it clogs? drain the tank and take the unit out?

Get a brass screen that fits in the top of a sediment bowl. Roll it into a cylinder shape. Cut the ends so they are straight, and then stuff it into the inlet. Or, cut a length of 5/16" fuel line, drill the sediment bowl inlet so it fits, and then use the brass screen on top of that. A dab of JB weld will hold it all together and in place.

A friend of mine just got 2 of those from Steiner. The hole in the sediment bowl was larger than the brass stem on the screen. He did as Rusty says and made his own screen.
