Work on this is progressing well I think..
I started in the shop in shed.. but before christmas we moved it to a smaller shop that we use for the motorcycles. Had to take the lift out, also had to take the weights of rears to fit thro the door. But lots of light, woodstove and "snack fridge".
The recent deep freeze that we experienced slowed things up a bit with other obligations, like plowing snow.
anyway.. have the aircleaner soaked and clean, carb cleaned ready for kit, valve cover gasket removed and surface cleaned ready for new one, manifold loosed .. it needs to be replaced.. a couple of holes on the intake side. New oil petck.. to install, and gasket on pan to do.. wiring will get replaced. Probably need to get a new battery as this one has a weak cell.
Yesterday I to0k off the grill, fanshroud and rad.. the rad was the reason we parked it 4-5 yrs ago.. so will get replaced. Wish I had got this started earlier last fall so that it could have got hotwater p.washed, would have eliminated a lot of hand cleaning. oh well..
My plan is to get this running and tuned very well, then address any other necessary fixes or adjustments, work it for the summer and then next winter take care of the cosmetics.
This will give me a chance to see any leaks, and problems when it is running/working. After all nothing shows up sitting in the shed.
I now have a couple of 'old fellas" ( Iam over 60) that come over to see how things are going. They even bring the 'snack' sometimes. But the interest is good and they have lots of time on their hands, and the stories are great.
