Many tractors

W are back home in St.Cloud after our circumnavigation of Colorado. No issues were encountered. Fine visits with DeltaRed, and Lazy WP. We drove back roads as much as possible and noticed graveyards of all colors on these roads through MN, SD, NE, WY,CO, and back. (probably 20 places that had several, and some that had hundreds of parked when running:). My opinion is there is no shortage of iron. Jim

Thanks for the 'tractor report'.Glad you and Prescott had a fun trip and are now back safe at home. Steve & Susan

(quoted from post at 15:26:53 01/08/14) If you need more mountain therapy, come back this summer.....
Western and SW Colorado is a great place to visit. Much better than the high priced "ski areas" like Aspen, Vail, etc. One of my favorites is the Gunnison/Lake City/Creede areas, especially Lake City. Also just north of you on the Grand Mesa. First visited the Grand Mesa back in 1961, but did not get back there until about 9 or 10 years ago. I do not like the crowded areas nearly as well.

I look out on Grand mesa every day-the
SanJuans;Raggeds;West Elks...My wife is from
Gunnison so we go there frequently. If you (or anyone
else) ever get close by,BY ALL MEANS,come see us!

It's good to know that there are still plenty left. It is hard to count things when they are scattered all over the place and hidden but I have heard some concerns that the supply of old tractors is running out.

Jim, If you ever make it to the east coast, primarily upstate New York around the Saratoga Springs area, let me know, dinner and some good tractor talk is on me (and maybe a conference on the restoration of the MTA lol), I figure I owe you at least that much with all the help you've given me! Glad to hear your trip was nice, ~Anthony

There are 241 tractors in this image from the top of the mountain. each less than one pixel. Looking back at Delta- Jim

Hey just jumpin in here. Up in that area you have that lawnmower Heaven place. Got up there last summer and what a great place it is. Loved it! Jeffcat

Howdy,
My son lives near Mancos, can see Mesa Verde from his back yard, but it takes over an hour to get there. Guess you have to like driving.
Nice country, weather is a bit strange.

My last run in the big truck put me out in Neb. and i was suppose to go on up into Wyo. Well since i am and old trucker i grabbed my trusty Atlas and plotted a new course and off i went . Now like you traveling the back roads and back country i did a lot of sight seeing , and i came into this little town, don't remember the name but there appeared to be and old closed up I H dealer with tons of tractors just setting there . There were H 's and M's 300's and 400 couple 350's and some 450's 460's 560's and some 06's . And i had the wrong trailer and no check book . What was needed was about 6-7 53 foot step decks and a BIG check book. all the tractor looked decent as far as looks go Now how bad the innerds Were your guess is as good as mine . In order to make out you would haave to be able to buy wright and you would have to have a 53 foot trailer and get as many on as you could at today's prices in trucking even IF you owned your own truck. as you would have real close to three grand in fuel on the round trip getting them back here and doing it by the book it is a full two day ride BY the book one way . Then a full day of loading and getting everything tied down. That thought has been kicking around in the bottom of the bucket list of things to do. And yes i can not kick the idea of buying another Large Car. Like either a 77-79 4300 I H with somewhere around 240-260 inch wheel base with a big cam 855 a 13 speed and 3.78 or 3.90 gears ON AIR RIDE this time .

I will be up in St. Cloud the 15th-17th for the mn fruit and vegetable growers convention at the river center. Great times and meet a lot of tractor guys. I farm south of the river in Apple valley rosemount area.

One of my cousins now owns the old family farm there. Dairy or was last time I was up there but then that was 40 plus years ago. Last I heard he had a number of fence row tractors there also

I run across a LOT of old tractors and machinery setting back in the fields while out bird (sharptails, partridge, grouse) hunting. I've especially found this true in Montana. Although it looks like they've been setting there for 30 years they have not rusted badly, apparently due to the low humidity of that area. I found one gent in Montana that has over 500 green tractors in giant warehouses. All were in first class shape, a result of his Father's lifetime hobby.

I like the western slopes better than the eastern slope. I guess that is because Denver is on the eastern slope.
Delta I was over in the Cortez area a few years ago. What a view there. Nice valley through there. Was also since then through from I-70 over to Grand Junction. Then across US-50 over to 114 to Saquache, and down the gun barrel to Monte Vista. Then back up through there. All in the winter. With an air seeder 12 feet wide. I had to wait for them to open the passes. The first trip I went out over La Veta pass. The trip around the Reservoir on snow pack al the way. Came back the next day was all clear to the pavement.
