Hy-Tran Hydraulic Oil

I just had my 68 444 gas engine overhauled with a front end loader on it. I need to add hydraulic fluid or replace it which I am going to do. Where can you find hy-tran? I went to O'Reilys they did not have it and I did not see any at Tractor Supply.
I am also looking at a B-414 1961 model that has been under a shelter for many years. It is a diesel, tires are rotted off and part of lift arms are missing.

'Hi-Tran' is a proprietary name IH uses for their own hydralic transmission oil(and their own special 'recipe').other places sell a good quality oil for that porpose.Hy gard(JDs brand);Walmart/others sell a 'hydralic transmission' oilYour napa carries a HG fluid. All are similar. For your needs, the 'generics' are quite suffient.

I live in GA so we don't get to -20 except maybe this year. No Case dealer close. How about Mystic J5 hydraulic I hear it is about the same as Hy-tran.

I use the generic stuff from Fleet-Farm and Countryside Coop. Hydraulics are slow at -28F but work.

Of course, I did put a pint of isopropyl alcohol in just before the polar vortex hit.

Your fuel supplier if sells a major brand of fuel should have a premium hydraulic oil, Shell, Phillips, Mobil, Cenex and others. Tell them you want a oil that meets Hy-Trans specs. Would stay away from them farm stores.

Places like NAPA and Tractor Supply may not sell "Hytran" specifically, but they do sell compliant/compatible fluid.

Look on the can. Most will list "Hytran" or even "Hytran Ultra."

Also look for MS-1209 or MS1209. If it is compliant with the MS1209 standard, it is equivalent to Hytran.

"303" hydraulic fluid is something entirely different.
