Now here is something you don't see everyday

That might be very rare, and a good find. But i
could not imagine spending that much for that, even
if i had the extra money sitting around.

Tom, Something is very fishy about that unit on EBay! It was last listed and bid up to 30,100.00 and than ended before auction was done.
But you could not see the biders it was private!
I have never seen it like that before. Was the seller biding on the iteam to run it up that high. If a complete unit in running condition sold in the fall in NY for 50,000 Dose that make this one worth 38,000??? so now he relists it at his old reserve price? I will never know. oldiron29

Well, that certainly does sound fishy. As far as the price goes, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I see the price of the old Mogul and Titan tractors......some get into 6 figures. Whatever the case, it is rare, it is old, and in fairly good condition. For once, everyone should be able to agree it is worth more that scrap value............

Theres only about 7 of those things known left. to me that's pretty damn rare. One did sell in NY at Erdle's auction last fall for 50K, however, it was running and driving. This one should be more around the 25-30K range to be what I would call 'reasonable'

finding a motor cultivator for sale is almost like finding a hens tooth

It was purchased not long ago and is now for sale because the seller needs some ground that just became available from what I read. He paid plenty for it and probably wants plenty back, nothing fishy or underhanded about that.
It's a rare piece for sale put up by an honest collector that needs some money, buy it or don't, I can't afford it or many others that come up for sale but that doesn't mean the seller is at fault of any kind.

Neither red nor green paint...but GOLD to match that ridiculous price. If that contraption is so rare and valuable, why isn"t the curator of some large museum all over it? Perhaps the Henry Ford Museum and/or the Smithsonian already have one on display. I doubt either!

Yer kiddin?
A Deere can bring 6 figures and a guy can't ask 50,000 for an IH that rarely exhists?
Not sure why I'm even sticking up for the seller anymore, maybe because he's not here to defend himself. May also be a reason he's not here. Whatever.

Moll, I was the one that made the original post, and I am NOT surprised at the price. I know how rare they are, and I also know how prices go up for rare things. I was a little surprised about the one post where it was up to $36k, and then the seller ended it.

I have paid premium price for certain rare things, and I didn't whine one bit about it..............because no one held a gun to my head to do it. It was my decision, and I spent the money knowing what I was doing.

I am NOT rich by any stretch, but I am at a point in my life that I have a bit of play money to use. Like I posted before, anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I hope he gets his price, but he also should be aware he may never get it. so, if I wanted $39k for something, and someone bid $36k, I would probably gulp hard and take it. Each person has to make their own decisions. Better to lose $3k, than the $36k he possibly could have gotten. My opinion.
