I needed to start my '90 International dump truck this morning (466 motor). Temp was zero and truck was not plugged in. Started right up. I have a 2000 International truck and 3488 tractor with 466 motors that never fail to start either. I am not an IH devotee, but that motor is da-- good.

Those 400 series IH engines are good starters even in the cold.

That old 1066 will fire and run if you can get 1-1/2 revolutions out of the batteries. It was the "emergency" tractor in winter because it would start without having the block heater plugged in.

My 966 starts real good when It's cold. It don't
have a block heater. My 1456 not so much. It likes
warm weather. My 674 will start, but it don't like
to. My green ones sit til spring.

iv'e ran several trucks with the 466's that had injector pumps good dependable engines especially cold starts, can't say the same for the temperamental new electronic mongrels, man I use to work for had a TR70 NH with a 3208 cat it would start in cold weather time it rolled over unlike a lot of the other cat engines
