Tractor Tires Again

Today my Farmall 460 has 6.00 x16's on them. I need to replace them. Two questions - first is there a big difference in performance /toughness between Goodyear ($70 ea) vs Firestone ($125 ea). Both are 6 ply.

Next is ok to put 6.50 x16's on it.

6:50 will be fgine.

If it has no loader and used sparingly the cheaper ones will be fine.

That is what I would put on and not afraid to use it everyday without a loader on the front.

As long as the clearance is there I see no problem with oversizing. John Deere A orignally 5:50x16 went to 6:50 x 16, could not go bigger because of cultivator and picker. Ford 4000 6:00 x 16 to 7:50 x 16. Ford 4:00 x 19 to 6:00 x 16. For your tractor for use if it has clearance for them I would go to 7:50 x 16", ride a lot better.

I've been on the farm for 65 years.Comparing Firestone to Goodyear,is like compairing sh$$t to ice cream.Firestone was in noway close to Goodyears.Rubber to soft the seamed to just melt on them.
Also not trying to start anything. They say a radial will outpull a bias ply. That not the way it works with me.Got a 60 John Deere w/13.6 on it one radial w/fluid the other bias ply w/no fluid the radial will alway spinout first.

John Athey; per the IH Operator's Manual for six ply = 6.00 or 6.50 X 16 is shown. I put a new set of 6.50 X 16 Firestone's on mine late last year.
