Super MTA troubles

my MTA started acting up run for 20-30 minutes then start cutting out and die. I would let it sit for a while then it would run fine for another 20 minutes. changed fuel filters blew out fuel line, cleaned the bulb and carb. I still have the same problem. could the coil be going bad or somthing getting hot? If anyone has any ideas i would be thankful.

Simple things first. Remove the gas cap from the tank and see if that solves it. OR, lay your hand on the coil and see if it is hot. A little warm is okay, but it should not be hot.

Sounds like a coil to me. I've had several act like that. I always keep an extra one on hand and swap it out. If it fixes the problem toss out the old one and pick up a spare when you get a chance. I keep a lot of minor spare parts on hand so I don't have to drive 10 miles when Iam in the middle of a job.

If after doing the checks already listed, & the trouble persists, check the coil primary wire where it goes up over the valve cover [in the harness].
Our SMTA had the wire down to 2 strands conducting
where it went through a clip on the front valve cover bolt/ stud. It would act just as you are describing yours is. We figured the 2 strands would conduct until they got hot & then the resistance would rise & choke off voltage to the coil.
You can check for this by running a wire with clips from the battery to the coil temporarily.
Sounds like maybe a bad condenser, though.

When the tractor acts up again, TEST for spark to help determine what the problem is!
You can waste a lot of time & money guessing!
