MD fuel injection while running on gas

I have an MD that seems to be injecting diesel when running on gas. It starts fine, but has quite a bit of smoke. How can I adjust the injection pump to stop this?

Check pump lever travel from full-off to full-throttle. The nuts at the center of the springs inside of the pump arm can be used to center the travel between full-off and full-throttle, but check the linkage from the hand throttle on down for sloppiness, etc. There are a lot of joints and a little slop in all of them can be additive.

If white smoke it may be diesel being injected (adjustment of the switchover linkage needed), If black, it is gasoline and the carb may be running rich, or you are using too much choke. They do operate far more rich than a regular gas engine. Jim

I agree on the adjustments of the lever on pump. A quick check though is to open all the bleeders on the injection nozzles while running on gasoline. This will stop any fuel from opening the nozzles to prove weather or not diesel fuel is injecting while on gas cycle. The pump has no definite shut off in reality, it only rotates the plunger spill port to the point where not enough pressure builds to open the nozzles when in shut off position. That is also adjustable on the rack itself if need be.
