farm all h m w governor

I bought my grandpas farmall h and I am in the process of restoring it. While I was working on it I noticed that the governor shaft housing says m&w add power governor. I've never seen one before what is the purpose of it and does it have any real benefit? Thanks for any info.

All the M&W governor does is to respond faster under varying loads, it does not give the tractor more power. They usually bring good money on ebay, the ones I have seen have sold for $300 or more.

The MW governor will give faster and more throttle responce.Kind of a hi-demand 'option' these days.Keep it on the tractor!Its an accessory that is not seen often these days.Will generate a lot of interest at tractor shows...

Thanks for the info I am planning on keeping it with the tractor to keep it original like my grandpa had it.

M&W also has 4- fly weights inside instead of 2, it is a nice piece, M&W made lots of add on parts & the company is still in operation today but under a new name & of course a new product line, i know this because i was looking for parts for a live PTO unit & 9 speed trans, so i research it found there number & called them , sorta sucks they dont make parts today

i dont remember it been so long now but if you search m&w gear co. it will come up , they make hay equipment still, & couple years ago they told me that they dont make parts for them old add on kits , but do have lots of parts in stock till there sold out
