39 A rewire

Just got 39 a from my long lost cousin hasn"t ran in yrs. wanted to keep it in the family, needs rewired before I start. Found 6 volt in hooked with neg. gr. The starter, generator, and voltage cut out are all in tac. the question is the mag is there with a coil on top . they where using the coil for spark and the points & condenser in the mag to put it to the plugs. can I do that same with pos. gr. I got the wiring schem. for 6 volt coil dist.
 
A coil does not care if it is + or - ground it works either way just like the starter does. You do want the + side of the coil to go to the distributor is you run it + ground
 
Thanks gene & old thought it should work. Grew up on farmalls. Have a A, super C and a H Just never worked with one with a mag. Been reading your posts for Quite awhile.

I see quite a few "can't be 1939" parts there. I suggest you do some checking of the serial number so you know what you really are working on.
 
Looks like you got the picture loaded ok. I have part of a 1939 or 40 I think A. Got it in after it and a tree had a fight and the A lost. So due to the fact the A was sort of broken into pieces I used it and 2 Bs I had to build my BA. From the front end back to the transmission it is a B and from the transmission back an A. I use it every summer to mow my hay with since it came with a sickle bar mower and the trike front and the narrow rear make it a nice hay mowing machine
