Guys, I know that W6 and W400 axle housings and axles will fit a 560. They are shorter. We change them to save weight for our pulling tractor. My question is, what is interchangable for my 460 tractor that would be shorter and lighter. I know that the 300 and 350 are, but they are the same lenght as my 460. Is there something out there that will change out like my 560 does for my 460? I appreciate any help

the w-400 has longer axles than a w-6.
have you done any measuring between the 560 and 460 as I think those w-6 will bolt on also.
 
measure and mark the length you want and cut them with a portaband or a demo saw just have some one running collant or water over axle tord the seals? to keep axle cool so it don't mess up the seals if out of the tractor could cut them on a band saw with collant.... take a grinder and just round off edge a little or if out of tractor chuck in a lathe and round end off a little....

Yes, we just cut the axle its self off, but the housings are the same as the w6. I thought the bolt pattern may be different for the 460 comapred to the 560 where the housing bolts onto the rearend at. I have a set of regular 460 housing, I will do some checking to see if they are the same as 560, I had them pictured as being smaller. Thanks for input.
 
Any H/300/350 axle housings would be the best candidates to bolt on to the 460 rear end.

A 460 is smaller than a 560.

You'd want to look at 300/350 Utility for possible shorter axle housings.
 
If using 2.5 axles cut off. I can't think of anything that will save weight from another tractor. IH did increase the cast wall thickness of 460 axle housings during production. Can't remember when it was though. So 300 or 350 housings may save a few pounds.
H axles are shorter than 300 to 460 but they don't work in 460 bull gears. Doesn't matter anyway if you cut the axles.
