My original gas valve/filter on my 1954 gas fired Super C Farmall was pretty corroded and the filter screen rusted out of it, so I decided to replace it with one I bought from Orscheln. The new one went in ok, but when I turned the valve on with gas in the tank it leaks around the glass bowl. The rubber gasket inside just seems to want to slide into the center inside of the glass bowl and leak. And I don't see how this rubber seal trapped between the glass bowl and the filter screen pushed against the metal body is supposed to seal anyway. I would think that the gas will just leak horizontally through the screen to the outside. What is the solution to this problem? Or are these gas valve/filters just no good?
