Alternator?

[b:f05bd0daec]My battery continues to go dead. I charged it up, put back in the 300 RC and put a multi meter on it. Battery registered in the 1250 range. Started the tractor and the multi meter was very eratic shooting between 900 and 1500. I could'nt get a steady reading. Now, being an electrical moron with a multi meter I don't know what this means. Is the alternator not working properly or is it my voltage regulator or something else. The tractor has been converted to 12 volt.

Borrow an analog VOM - or a quality digital multimeter (like a Fluke) - and repeat your voltage readings.

Post back your results and we'll take it from there...

Make sure your battery is charged, then unhook the battery. go out the next day and check your voltage. May be a bad battery, or the diodes in the alternator are bad causing a drain on your battery.
