Greetings,

I have a new to me 560 Diesel and really slow hydraulic/steering. From a search on this site I learned about cleaning he screen. When I opened the case I found the oil had water (white mousse) and this is likely the problem. I have new oil and filter seeking advice on how to drain system for a fresh start and how to keep water out in the future.

thanking you in advance for the valuable experience

I would drain it and take a line off power steering pump and hydraulic and your 2pt hitch start it and work your controls a couple of times to push out as much fluid as possible don't run it but just a few seconds or u may burn your pumps up when u refill your going to have to bleed your system put your lines back on leave the fittings loose so air can escape work your controls until you get just fluid no air then tighten fittings prob got water setting out over the yrs or condensation hard to say with a 50yr old tractor rain will seep in when a tractor sets out

mabey drain and replace with a couple of gallons of cheap hytran from tractor suppley . drain again .and fill with the good stuff.our tractor supply has a generic oil on sale comparable to hytran.17.99 for 2 gallons.might be good enough to flush the system.

Drain the oil out of the three drain holes plus the filter housing. Put the plugs back in with a new filter and fill it with 17 gallons of diesel and drive around for ten minutes. I also loop a hydraulic hose from the valve outlets to flush them with diesel.
Park tractor and let it drain for a few days. Replace filter again, put in plugs and fill with hy-tran and you are good to go. The little bit of diesel in the lines will not hurt anything. Good luck.
