im wondering if I can put a waterpump from a c- farmall onto a super a. are they the same engine. what will I need, or is this even do-able.

When I overhauled my B farmall years ago a water pump was installed. The head gasket should be replaced also as water pump equiped engines use a different gasket. The B does not get hot with the six foot Woods mower now like it did before it was rebuilt.

Yes. Get one for a Super C and it will bolt right on the lower water inlet. Get the Super C fan belt too.

Why change headgaskets as the hole in the head and block are the same. Of all those engines i have worked on the replacement gaskets are the same so realy the gasket wont make any difference. I have blocks from 39 earliest to latest is a 52 dont see any difference in the holes for water. Hole in the gasket is always larger than the port.

Water pump engines had smaller holes in the head gasket since the pump helped move the coolant. Thermosiphon system gasket had large water holes. An old NAPA engine parts book showed the difference, depending if a pump was used or not.

I remember the gasket books calling for a head gasket with or without a water pump. Smaller holes with the pump to slow the circulation down to cool better.
