going to go get a farmall 706 lp tractor soon, were going to get it all working and looking decent [ its been parked in a barn for awhile] it has a widefront but its been fixed, the plan is to send it to auction, as ther is no sence in letting it just sit and rot, its not a bad unit otherwise and all systems did work when it was parked, what is a realistic price we can expect to get for this, so i dont go overbard cleaning it up? will it be a lot better if i find a unrepaired wide front for it, or not enough to justify replacing it

I got an 806LP with a brand new T/A installed, rearend rebuilt and a head just back from the machine shop. Narrow front, fasthitch, dual PTO and I got it for 2000

Problem with LP stuff is you have to find that one special person who wants to buy it. most people don't want to mess with them in regards to trying to fuel them

did you buy the one that was in the photo ads here?

thanks, no this one belongs to a older friend of mine who bought it new, he's 86 now and just doesnt need it anymore, what little cattle work he still does is done with a newer slightly smaller diesel tractor,

Eric, aren't you located in Ky? I am too and am interested in your 706LP. Shoot me an email with your phone number so I can give you a call. Thanks.

If you had rather call than email, that will be fine too. Please call me at 270-499-3483 as I am very interested in the tractor. Thanks.

wife is hopeing this big tractor doesnt get clingy and wind up staying right here on our place, i really dont need it at all, but you know how it goes when you fix them up

ericlb, Unlessthe owner can stick the key in the slot, turn it 1/4 turn and the tractor starts, start at ave wt and Scrap wt price! if the tires are really nice then consideration can be given for that!
Basically it is a Dead tractor...$500(engine stuck) to $700(engine loose)! if the tires are exceptional $1000 to $1200!
If it starts and runs, depending on condition $2000 to $3000of more new tires, seat, wide front No welds. Look at the one in Tractor Photo Ads to get you some Idea of a price. Look at Tractor House too! Hope this helps!

that one is nearly the twin to the one we have out here in nm, i thought it would be worth more, kind of disapointing as thats the price about what a decent 8n ford sells for, and the 706 is many times more tractor than a 8n any hope if its slicked up nice?

ericlb,Yes the tractor in the photo ads is hard looking1 crappy front tires and short rubber rears, poor paint. and minus the Pedestal Cover which indicated the shifting mechanisms giving problems AND with that pedestal cover gone then the wiring harness may have problems TOO!!!!
I picked up a early 706 D a while back, hadn't run in 4 yrs when i got it.....didn't take long to figure out why.....Wiring Harness, glow plugs, most dash components were Crap! only electric circuit that worked was the starter circuit! was later able to get started!, so I was able to determine it was worth spending some money on. a new harness, glow plugs, it had 60% long bar/short bar rear rubber, standard two tire narrow front! so it was worth the $500 I gave for it! I can afford to spend some money on it and still be ahead of the ball game.
Just don't start off too high getting it. A complete wiring harness will run in the neighborhood of $500to $700 if you replace it all
a Temp/Fuel, oil & amp light gauge will run you +-$100 for a non IH marked one to a $200+ for a IH marked one. Glow plugs are $20.00 a pop X 6 = $120
a lot of variables here to consider!
LPs have become popular Up North so a tractor bought right will still make you $$$ !
If you like holler at me tomorrow and I will be glad to visit with You about it all! My # is 512-577-3837
Hope this helps!
