T - 20 tracks

I am overhauling a T - 20 tractractor very slowly. I am wondering if anyone knows where you can purchase new tracks. The pins are very wore on mine and I need to replace them as I can no longer tighten them by adjusting them out. any leads would be great.

No sense in replacing just the tracks. Chances are pretty good that if the tracks are worn out so are the front idlers, and rear sprockets as well as the rolls. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with scrap it.

my rear sprockets and the lower idler pulleys, and front idlers are all fine. Like I said in my post I am looking for new track or good used track chains, The junking it will not be an option, but thanks for your opinion anyhow.

I had the same problem with T-20 tracks. TD-6 tracks have the same pitch and fit fine on the T-20 undercarriage. The TD-6 tracks have more links than you will need. I think it was 2 extra links per side if I remember correctly, might have been a more. Get them shortened down to the correct number of links and you're in business.

Loren,

The point people are trying to make here is that new tracks will be VERY EXPENSIVE. Probably several thousand dollars. Much more than the tractor is worth, or ever will be worth. So much more that it makes no sense even on the most sentimental level. In other words, it might be grandaddy's tractor, but grandaddy would tan your hide if he knew how much money you were spending on it.

If you want to keep it, keep it, but don't kid yourself into thinking you can affordably put new tracks on it. Keep your eyes open for a decent used set.

Can the worn out areas be built up with weld and remachined? Yeah it will be time consuming... but it will either be your time or your money. Guess it is your call.

Anyone who supplies used dozer parts can help you. There are many suppliers on the net. There will be a distinct learning curve on what size chains, sprockets & idlers will be necessary.
I would find someone local who is familiar with working on these to help you determine, first what exactly is needed, what can be repaired & what can be replaced. Most people are not very familiar with these track systems, those that are can help steer you in the right direction, as they have many more resources to help you. I like the old crawlers, and seeing one restored & working is pretty rare.
