My grandfathers tractor was running fine but parked for two years. Tractor runs in 1st. I pulled the gear shifter off and looked in and the slide for 1st. Will not move backwards to shift into neutral but the slides for 2nd-3rd and 4th-5th move freely. Any thoughts and also where can I get a diagram of this transmission?

If the tractor is parked on a flat place, you could try to rock it back and forth and hope to unbind the drive train so the gear can slide into neutral.

The shift rail may be rusted to the brackets (common cause) and if so pulling the cover off may be the easiest solution. Forcing it is not a good idea as far more expensive damage can occur. I assume it was in first when parked. Jim

One place you can find a diagram is to search for the online parts site for case ih. Find your model 350 utility then click chassis then # 226 for transmission. Little more down you can find the shifting parts.
Realized I had a senior moment earlier. You are correct the shift rail needs to go back for neutral.

I agree with Janicholson : your shift rail is stuck; you will need to take off the top cover off(which houses the shift rails), and free up the 1st/rev rail. When you take the cover off you will be able to shift the gear easily. Just be sure after you free up the rail, you put the shift forks back where they belong, when you drop the housing back on.
