got the 560d started pump was locked up from bad fuel does the 282 have a natural I want to call it a knocking sound to it to be honest first 560 I ben around im not sure what they even sound like got me kinda worried listen to one on utube thought I could hear it there to

The 282 has a unique sound versus other diesels but that could be said about a lot of other diesels, too. I think once warm when operating in cold weather makes a difference. If you are concerned then it might be worth hiring a professional to come out and hear it then you can rest assured one way or the other.

There is a sort of "knocking" sound at low rpm, like many diesels. But if it's more of a "hammering" and continues even into higher rpms, it can be an issue.

yes, normal to hear the 282's a knocking on startup, more so in cooler weather till the smoke clears up. even after starting hold glow plug button some till it smoothens out.

I am also new to 560 diesel and it sounds different from my 460 diesel seems to have plenty of power but defiantly more of a knock is this normal?

I think a 282 at idle sounds similar to the gas start diesels, other than it being 6 cyl vs 4. I sorta figured it had to do with being indirect injection and the head construction.

in contrast, the 806/361 will give a noticeable diesel knock when sharply advancing the throttle but not so much otherwise. the 282 in this situation will not.
