O/T Block Heater

Some of you folks must live in cold country and own a diesel pick-up. I have a 1994 Ford with a 7.3 IDI. Can anyone tell me where the block heater should be located? My truck was from Ok. and now it lives in Pa. I don't think Ok. trucks need block heaters so it probably never had one. Has anyone ever changed one or know where they are located?

Drivers side it fits in the freeze plug hole. I live in Midwest IL. and never had to plug it in and then had to remove it as it was leaking antifreeze. I just replaced it with a freeze plug that was 10 years ago.

I noticed that when I plugged in my block heater ANY TIME THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 50, the engine started much quieter. While it would start without the heat, it just seemed so much easier on the engine, that I decided to use it.

i have run diesel pickups for 20 years live in the midwest and have had block heaters on all of them and stoped pluging them in 10 years ago with the new tecnology you do not need them

I live in maryland and have a 6 liter powerstroke when it gets below freezing I have to plug mine in if not it is really hard to start and sometimes wont start. Its a 07 and only has 78k on it. Jim
