F20 generator

Hello my newest F20, 144,000 serial number has the Robert Bosch inline generator. I have a Bosch no battery generator for a TD 35 and TD 40 but they used a switch mounted to the generator. I do not see a switch other than a much newer push pull switch mounted to a gas tank bracket. Does any one know a have a good picture of the correct switch, also curiose about the correct light and mounting location? My tractor does not have fenders. Thanks, Mike

Mike, Dwayne "rusticredacres" has an F-20 with all the bells and whisles, He may come along and may have a picture. oldiron29

Mike, The Bosch inline setup is not as common as the Delco inline setup but the switch you are asking about part# 13098D is the same for both setups. I have a F20 with the Delco setup and lights and fenders and also have a W30 with the Delco setup with electric start and lights also have a third Delco setup for an upcoming project. We make the part# 745D cast mount bracket that mounts the headlight to the upright shown. Pictures are 13098D switch front and back and headlight support channel and headlight mounted on 745D cast bracket. That bracket was used on a wide range of tractors with headlights.

Thanks for pics. Looks like the same cast brackets as used on TD 35 and 40 tractractors. Lights on the tractor are different, likely old car lights. switch is in same location so must have failed and got replaced years ago. Looks like the hunt will be on for switch, light posts and lights to make it complete. thanks, Mike

Dwayne,

I find it interesting that you refer to the Delco setup as common. I have been looking for one of these setups for several years and only found them on restored tractors not wanting to sell.

I have a 39 F-20 with electric start that I want to convert to a more factory looking setup.

Thanks,
Brian

I think what Dwayne meant was the Delco setup is more common then the Bosch setup. In-lines are out there but somewhat difficult to round up. Ive got 3 tractors with the delco setup on them and a 4th setup on the shelf. Sold an electric start W-30 last year with a delco on it but ive never had a Bosch setup.

Is that starter button in the next-to-last picture the recommended location by Heiser?

Based on advice from this site, I use a solenoid and key. What do others use?

Brian, I said that I thought that the Delco setup was more common as the ones out in the public eye at antique shows or on here for example have been Delco setups. I personally have saw several and know of others that great collectors have and most are the Delco setups. Don't get me wrong in saying that you can find them anywhere but seems like the Bosch setup was not as common on the F and W series tractors. The Delco setup is way more user friendly for parts rebuilding to make work and they do need battery power to excite them to charge. The Bosch setup is way harder to find any parts for and in my book more desirable to own as I want one to but I know when I find one I know that it will probably be just a novelty item because my luck it wont be a user to power lights. Great conversation about a rare item on these great pre 39 tractors. Keep up your travels to find one as they are out there but was a high dollar for the day option and most could not afford them just like everything we buy today.
