F20 Hydraulics

Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me how the drive coupler to run the farmall M style hydraulics was attached. Does the coupler thread on? possibly bolted or keyed? or is the whole lower shaft needed? Purchasing from a fellow tractor guy but unable to look at myself and was looking for some insight for how to remove. My F20 just has the cast cap covering the end of the lower shaft on the tranny. Thanks, Mike

Mike, When the cap is removed fromt he lower shaft There is a large slotted type groove that will mate with the shaft drive in the pump. I can't remember if I bolted the adapter plate to the pump before I mounted it or mounted the plate first? Bolts will only work one way. you will see how it goes when you have it in front of you. oldiron29

there is a plate that bolts to the trans housing and if I remember right you remove the nut on the lower shaft and replace it with the drive coupler, threads on like the nut did. I have some pics somewhere if I can locate them.

Thanks, pictures are indeed worth a 1000 words. The adapter that I am looking at getting is a little different, it mounts a M pump to the frame and uses the M coupler to drive it. Looks like the drive cog is going to be threaded on in place of the normal nut. Thanks, Mike

I have seen way more shop-made mounting brackets than I have the factory casting. If yours mounts to the frame I'd say it's shop-made.
