traded for a farmall cub, about 50 year model. has not ran in several years. rear most valve in cylinder 2 is stuck open.

anyone had any good luck unsticking a valve without removing head, etc.

Some times , and sometimes not . I use a penetrating fluid that most have never used or heard of and i have found nothing to match it . If a little Zep and a little tapping does not get it to move then it is time to pull the head .

That engine uyou can remove the side pannel and then see the stem. See if you cant get the valve to move shouldnt realy be stuck that hard using anything spraying on it before trying to move it.

sure is a heck of a lot easier than getting a stuck piston to move. lots of times you can go in from the spark plug hole and use a screwdriver or make something to push on the head of valve. and spray lube from the inside also. I have unstuck valves without even taking the valve cover off.

Well if you can get it so the cylinder can be filled with ATF and let sit a few days that works well on many but you have to cap off the exhaust or intake so that you can keep the ATF on the whole thing. Then if you can through the spark plug hole tap it down when you are sure it should be closing. I have had good luck doing that. But also had one that doing that did not help at all

I have had good luck with stuck valves in flat heads. I made a "L" shaped tool to get to valve and lots of light tapping and I prefer Marvel Mystery oil but you could save $50.00 and use ATF with probably the same results. After you get it free I would use the same lube in the gas for awhile.

I buy direct now as the place i use to get it the owner died and i never knew where he got it form as it was top secret as he would never tell ya . Then a buddy found someone and for a while we would get it off of him , then he kicked the bucket and i just called Zep and got and account . Now we order in a case at a time . I have two cans in the truck and just about anyplace you look out at the farm there will be a can .Finding a can of Zep is easy finding the Grease guns is hard , need more grease guns.

I know but I can't help myself. I can't remember who told me MMO and ATF are sam ting. Happy Holidays to you .
