IH Super C starter color

They were red when they left the factory. Most 'restorers' paint em black because they look sharp painted black. Most rebuilders paint em black as well.

They were a shade of red between Massey Ferguson red and New Holland red, some call it IH red.
I like it vhen restores paint them green, it shows up at a distance.

Imagine putting the whole tractor together and going at it with a red sprayer. That is what the factory did. Very little got masked. Lights, gauge faces, shifter knob, seat pan if cushioned, and spark plug cap.

Yup! Always gets me when people "restore" a tractor by painting individual pieces before assembling. That's not "restoring" them... restoring to what? They were never that way before. Got to admit they do look purty, but restored.... NOT!
I remember Dad buying 3 new tractors in his day... a Farmall C, a Super C and John Deere 60. He had bought a '39 JD B but it was before I remember, but the ones I do remember all had flaws in the paint.

Originally they were painted red with the rest of the tractor, replacements came painted black, so either is correct.
