Help with distributor

Hi all, I recently have gotten myself two h's and i have been working to restore one back to running condition. One i bought has terrible rubber on it, and rims rusted out, but brand new rebuilt engine. 2nd one is a 1948 i believe and it was restored with a 6 volt system, how ever the owner died and it was left outside in the rain.. eventually filling the engine to the top with water. Its a shame too because someone spend a lot of time and money to restore it. I swapped the good engine into the good restored tractor so far, and that's where I am now.

the 1946 tractor has a magneto on it from what i understand, and the 1948 has a distributor. I want to make sure I get the correct parts for it, so if anyone could give me any info on it that would be awesome. I am going to attach 2 pictures I have of numbers that i found on it. I believe it is the IH one and not the delco. I may convert it to electric ignition, i haven't really decided yet but would like to keep my options open. If anyone could tell me which of the 2 kits i'd need would be awesome too. thanks!

I think this is the kit i need.. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Farmall-H_Electronic-Ignition-Conversion-Kit-12V-Negative-Ground_1442.html
vs this one.. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Farmall-H_Electronic-Ignition-Conversion-Kit-12v-Negative-Ground_1142.html

apparently i cannot post pictures yet..

the numbers on the the piece below the rotor are 353900r1

and on the housing that connects to the front of the engine, 6237-DA

IF you convert it to 12 Volt Neg Ground, kit 1442 is the one for the IH distributor, the other is for a Delco.

IH distributor uses the part number 353900R1. Mag was original on that model but IH and others sold distributors to convert over.

Is it possible to see a picture of the Delco standing up? I am just curious to what it looks like installed on the tractor.

I do believe that I have a ih. Will i still be able to hand crank with electric ignition and 12 volt?

Here's a Delco, although not on an "H"....

Here's your IH distributor... (The casting # you posted is of the DRIVE, a part that would be the same whether there was a mag or a distributor attached to it.)

And, yes, you can crank it, so long as the base timing is et correctly.
