I am installing power steering on my SMTA and I
order a pulley an d received a pulley that fits
right over the existing main engine pulley ...but I
am not sure how it attaches to the nig pulley...do
you weld it on?

Hopefully you use modern view.

In a nutshell, the pulley twists on over the hand crank pin in the end of the crankshaft.

Unless you have something different. If so you need to post a picture.

Welding is a BAD idea. It's cast so the only way to do it right is to pull the front end off the tractor, pull the pulley, and do the proper preheat/postheat/cooldown. Doing it on the tractor is a good way to ensure that the engine will need a new front seal.

Don't think anyone mentioned that a longer starting crank pin, one that goes in the front crankshaft hole is needed. Some just used 2 roll pins driven into the crank half way each.

Didn't think to say in the last post that fan spacers were used also when the pulley was installed. Fan will be to close without them. Have saw some bend the fan blades to clear. That's chancing a weak spot or crack in the blades that could fail.
