m with duals

Some dual setups were sold as options, most added by the farmer. An M usually doesn't need the traction it can need flotation. Jim

AFIK Farmall tractors were never shipped from the factory with duals. They however could easily be added at the dealership, or by the owner later on.

We operated several Super M's fitted with duals for many years. One had snap-on duals, the others had complete 2nd sets of cast wheels.

Lots of Ms had duals.Only not factory.Just 'added' later.I've had these for 30+ years.Put em on from timt to time....

I have a set of Petersen 9-bolt hubs on one M and a set of M&W's on another. Plowing clay here at any depth requires the extra land wheel to grab at anything you can get tires on. Getting across some low ground discing or pulling a springtooth harrow, or pulling wagons usually necessitates the duals for both float and the extra grip.

Actually both H's and M's were offered with duals as factory options. They were 6 or 7 x 44" and were intended to straddle bedded crops. I have never seen one so equipped and the option couldn't have been very popular. Deere also offered similar options in the late 30's.

Seen a fwe different branded tractors with those type duals.None were running/runnable at the time.Always wondered why there were such shinny tires

Here's a couple of pics of a H with duals. Also has spreaders on the front wheels. Setups like this were used to straddle the beds when they pulled "knifing rigs" in very young emerging cotton for weed control.

They are in the back of the parts book.

We used to run 1 set of duals between 2 Super M's. Plowing 1 tire would run backwards on 1 of the tractors. Poor people had poor ways! lol

Yes it is. Another forum member, John A. took the pic. Said the tractors are located next to the windmill museum in Lubbock.
