Still trying to get sickle mower apart.

I posted a week or two ago about needing to get a shaft and pulley apart on a parts mower I have to use in repairs of a mower I am working on. I got comments that said to remove the four bolts on the back plate then drive the entire assembly out the front. Well I have pounded on and yelled at and pried on this thing trying to get it out with no luck. I have a parts break down thanks to Farmallhal and I don’t see a snap ring or a pen or anything that is holding it together. I welcome any advise. Everything rotates very well but will not budge forward or backwards.

Use a puller in those 4 holes to put pressure on it while using a hammer to break it loose. Don't hammer the end of the shaft & mushroom it. Have you been soaking it with ATF?

Thats the strange thing. I can push it forward or back about an 1/8 of an inch very easy with my finger and it all rotates very easy but I have hit it with a very big hamer and it will not move. Have not mushroomed the end of it yet.

Last one I did I had to take it to a hydraulic press and press it off. IIRC it is a VERY tight press fit between the shaft and crank/hub/pulley. The shaft then comes out the FRONT where the four bolt cover is.

That sounds like what I may have to do. So far this old mower has been harder to work on then tearing down a tractor.
