Hello to all . We took apart a 282d and we were amazed at the length of the head bolts by the exhaust manifold. They all have spacers .Was there a special reason? Gaston

That is to give enough clearance to get a socket on. I had a 706 with the 282 that was hard on head gaskets. I got all new long bolts and made spacers on the lathe, so I got the same torque & stretch on them. No more gasket trouble.
