Super C hydraulic pump?

The pump that is mounted to the front of the engine by the distributor. What does that run when it came from factory. Have one here that has the outlets hooked into a valve then 2 outputs on back to run a 2 way cylinder. They also added a small tank in one of the hose runs to hold extra oil. This tank was in the way of a 2 row cultivator on it sevral years ago, took tank off and spliced hose together. Never used the dual outlet seems to be some preasure pulls engine without tank when valve lever is pulled.Hopefully we didnt do any damage to pump by taking storage tank out of the circut about 4 years ago. Main question is what did that run from factory. Thanks

Extra hy oil for use on a cycl or a remote. Better get some help as you have blocked of return and the pump will blow the seal. When you removed the tank you mite have blocked the return.

Took the input side hose to tank and coupled it the out put side hose with hose clamps and pipe slide into the 2 ends. This was done about 4 years ago. What was that pump used for when it came out of factory. Cultivator lifts fine and the 2 point hitch raises and lowers fine.

Originally the system included a reservoir and two internal cylinders that lifted and or moved attachments. This is called a hydra touch system. The controls are located on the quadrant near the throttle. I agree with Gene, the return should go to a reservoir to assure no pressure is applied to the pump when not in use. Jim

Factory with fast hitch valve mounted on rockshaft input hoses went to the rear for fast hitch for mounted implements moldboard plows, disc plow, blade, brushcutter, hayrake, weeder, sickle mower, carry on platform, harrow and other stuff front rockshaft used to lift 2rowcult,6row veggie cult, one row mounted picker, blade for just some of the stuff that was made for the SC using the hy system.

Thanks; They must have did that at the valve control they added. Have to check the hoses up there. We have used the cultivator for several years and the levers by the thorrtle lift and work. and the lever for the 2 point lifts and lowers it ok. But if not, will get a line return in there some way. Thanks.

If it is working as you indicate, it is OK. The use of a control valve with the couplers disconnected is going to cause the system to dead head into nothing. Other than causing the pressure relief valve and pump to strain, it is harmless if done accidently. If kept that way it will overheat the pump and cause system failure. Jim

I now see that that the line that had the reservor goes back into a a valve unit by the starter, which looks to be factory made. So maybe its ok, its been run that way 4 years now, cultivator and 2 point raise and lower fine. The main reason I questioned this just bought an M where they have put a pump on from the old 100 series JD combine to make a 2 way loader work then have someway tried to rig power steering up with a pump in between the distributor and front of engine. and its all keaking.lol

The pump between the distributor and front of engine on the M is the "correct" way to add live hydraulics to an M. It's either going to be an M&W live pump or an IH factory pump.

If the hoses come out the bottom it's an IH pump.

Unfortunately these pumps are not serviceable. The M&W because parts are NLA, and the IH by design... New IH pumps are the better part of $1000. UGH.

Thanks; its an IH, 2 pipes at bottom side, plugged with pipe plugs, no hoses, and they have some how "tried" to use a plate and bolt to hold the bottom side, its leaking.""New IH pumps are the better part of $1000. UGH."" thats the end of that.lol

Havent looked close enough yet, but I think we will take that out if we go on with this. That is why the JD pump on the other side driven off the fan belt home made braket to hold it, to get live power for the loader 2 ways on bucket. main lift. cylinders signle action. Loader was off tractor at sale so its kinda putting a puzzle back together. They rigged up a 3 point from a WD which the main pump is running one way cylinder.
