Super H wiring

Hi all, I have been working on a friends SH and converted it to 12volt negative ground put on an alternator ,12 volt coil, switched the wires around on the amp meter and ran a signal wire to the alternator to exite it, it all works fine exept after sitting the last two days it ran the battery totaly dead. is their something else i need to do when making this conversion? it is an early SH with the voltage regulator down by the starter.

You need either a diode in the wire going to #1 terminal, or a 10 ohm resistor, or a marker lamp (Bulb not Diode). This will feed the #1 terminal with ignition voltage from the switch side of the ballast resistor. and prevent discharge. The #2 terminal wire should go to either the battery+ at the starter switch, or the big terminal right there at the alternator (short wire). Jim
