[If you can't tell, I'm getting the H cleaned up for the Christmas parades.]
Another question, but I may not describe this very well - All the oil pan bolts have what looks like little elongated home-made steel "washers", small pieces of steel drilled out, some go from one bolt head over to the next, some go from one to the next to the third bolt. Provides back-up strength for the oil pan sheet metal. They are kinda irregular. The oil pan didn't come with these sheet-metal backup pieces, right? These are home-made, right? Not IH?

There are pieces of steel that reinforce the bolting area, but they are really neatly cut. Sounds like somebody added some extra stuff because they were worried about cracking out the bolt holes??? Even torque???

Reinforcing straps or plate steel was over all the pan bolt holes and attached to the pan. 4 pieces were use with 4 small gaps near each end between the plates.
What you describe didn't come from IH.
