Single tire on 43 M

Which ever tractor owner wanted one. There were 3 options from the factory; single front tire, double front tire (commonly called tricycle), or wide front. All interchange on all M's H & C had same options only different size.

Any one from the first to the last...four bolts and you could put on any front end your heart desires. That same single would fit that M clear up to the 1256(I think even the 1456),and even on selected 66/86 series tractors.Kind of a 'regional' thing.Singles were more common/desired/popular in the furrow irrigated areas, especially sugar beet, pinto bean,potatos....The single could follow the 'water mark/furrow.Steve

I would not think so, it would be maybe worth more to someone who wanted one for practical or sentimental purposes but the wide front is the one that most often adds to the value.

Guys, Ms and Hs had a 4 bolt mount. they could be change out in and hour with rear tires blocked, and jacked up just slightly. Some guys might change from a standard 2 tire tricycle front to a single cotton front to a wide front 3 to 6 times / summer! It just depending on what farming operation was happening this week!
A cotton front is no more or less valuable than a 2 tire tricycle front. the wide fronts will command a little more money it just depends on whose looking.

Dennis.I have a single laying out back.I havent used it in 20 years. It will probably never be used again....

We used a single front wheel on our M when we had a corn picker on because it allowed you to turn shorter - took less room under the snoot.

BEFORE anyone throws away or scraps out a 10 inch cast front wheel for an M......I need one plus the axle for my single front F-20 I have. got the yoke but no axle or wheel
